There are many patterns on the web for clocks. I personally never use them, because since there are usually too many lines on them, it becomes impossible to make out where the fingers really are. One cannot see the time, so it totally looses its function. I think it's better to use just a few lines, or at least leave the middle or a wide ring area around the middle free. (If we want something more sophisticated, it's better to call it a picture, and not to disturb the look with clock hands...)

I love to use float glass for clock plates as the almost invisible colorless transparent glass gives a unique airy look for clocks even if the pattern and colors are a little "heavy".
